Intense Pulse Light (IPL) Laser / Photofacial

IPL Laser / Photofacial is a noninvasive treatment that treats skin damage without disruption of the skin’s surface. IPL can simultaneously treat a wide range of facial concerns safely and effectively such as broken capillaries, benign brown pigment, age spots and mottled pigmentation.

What Is Intense Pulsed Light?

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology is a treatment that can correct a variety of skin imperfections, the signs of photo-aging, birthmarks, unsightly veins and other blemishes.

How Is Photorejuvenation Performed?

A cold gel is usually applied to the area to be treated, and you may be given dark glasses to protect your eyes from the bright light. The smooth glass surface of the IPL hand piece is gently applied to your skin and pulses of light are applied. You may feel a slight sting, like the snap of a small rubber band. Treatment is generally administered in a series of four to six sessions.

Why Are Multiple Treatments Necessary?

Depending on the number of conditions you are treating, and the severity of the individual problem, a series of four to six treatment sessions may be recommended. You can return to work the same day and resume all your regular activities. By dividing the full program into several treatments, the procedure provides gradual improvement with very low risk – and, it preserves the wonderful “no down time” feature that people appreciate so much.

Can’t I Do Just 1 Treatment?

While there is no harm in doing only 1 treatment, the system is designed to be used as a series of treatments.

What Conditions Can PhotoRejuvenation Treat?

  1. Imperfections From Sun Damage And Photo-aging.

IPL technology helps create smoother-looking skin. After a series of treatments, you can see a significant reduction of unwanted pigmentation. The same treatment can be used effectively on the neck, chest, arms and hands.

  2. Benign Vascular Lesions: Broken Veins And Capillaries

The face has an extensive network of veins and tiny blood vessels called capillaries. Over time, aging, trauma, sun exposure and certain lifestyle factors cause a number of them to break appearing as red streaks or blotches on the face. IPL therapy can eliminate damaged veins and capillaries by removing virtually all traces of these unsightly blemishes.

  3. Redness Caused By Broken Capillaries

Many people suffer from broken capillaries and diffuse erythema that causes them social embarrassment. For both women and men, IPL can successfully treat dilated blood vessels without injuring the surrounding healthy skin.

  4. Who Is A Candidate For IPL?

Almost anyone with unwanted blemishes is a candidate for IPL. However, it is best to do IPL when the skin is not tanned, and caution should be used in darker skinned individuals.

  5. Is There A Guarantee Of Results?

IPL has a very high patient satisfaction rate. Having said that, it is impossible to predict exactly how any one individual will respond. It is also very important to have realistic expectations of any given procedure. If someone expects to finish IPL treatments and look like they had a facelift, they will be disappointed in the outcome. Individual consultations with a highly trained aesthetician are extremely important. While IPL and other treatments are widely available, we feel that the personalized care given at Park Cities Personal Physicians is what sets us apart from the competition.
